How to change an electrical outlet ?

There is nothing very complicated to change an electrical outlet but it requires compliance with safety rules.

Security Principle

To avoid any risk of shock or electrocution, be sure to turn off the power at the circuit breaker.

Outler Dismantling

There are two types of plug:

- In the case of an outlet with fixing screws, unscrew them.

- In the case of an outlet covered with a bandage or decorative housing, remove it.

Insert a flat screwdriver under the edge of the strip by folding down the handle towards the wall. For leverage, you can raise the banner and get it back. It remains only to unscrew the screws and remove the plug from the wall.

Once taken out of the wall, unscrew the screws holding the wires to free the plug. Strip the wires of 7 to 8 mm with a wire stripper.

Connecting wires

Twist the wire if it's not already done. To do this, insert the pliers, making a quarter turn with the pliers to twist them.

Then insert the new wire in the electrical outlet. Only the ground wire (yellow / green) has a specific location marked by the symbol "N". Neutral wire and Phase wire can be logged in with no particular order. Tighten the screws of the terminals in order that the wire held properly.

Outlet Installations

Put the wires in the wall and fit the new socket. Screw the screws from the outlet. If it has a cache, install it by pressing it until you hear a "click".

The plug is installed, you can restore power to the breaker.
