How to fix pastel and coal on a painting

Personally I use the strong, vivid colors of the pastel chalks for large, modern shapes, while the coal as only an additional tool to emphasize the meaning of such serious topics as the Creation or Tree of Knowledge in the Paradise  among the graphite lines.

However, the pastel is originally, as its name says, used for pale shades giving little impressions of a lasting moment , the coal is usually simply used on its own forming black outlines on the special jagged, mildly rough pastel-coal paper available in white and other colors.

In order to keep the shine of the pastel chalks and miss its and the coal’s fingerprints destroying the done shapes on the surface, the picture has to be fixed once by special pastel-coal spray or twice by hair-fixing spray, at both without letting the spray work too close and flow, soak the paper. In any case the paper has to be dried before being rolled-up and put into a frame."
