How long should habitat documents be kept

Document retention time depends on the nature of the documents:

  • Invoices for work or repairs undertaken by an artisan must be kept for 30 years
  • Documents relating to the construction must be kept for 10 years
  • Invoices for work or repairs carried out by a merchant must be kept for 10 years
  • The gas and electricity bills are to be kept for 10 years.
  • Real estate agent invoices must be kept for 10 years.
  • The minutes and the minutes of the co-ownership meeting are to be kept for 10 years.
  • Rent or lease receipts must be kept for 5 years.
  • The notary's fee invoices are to be kept for 5 years.
  • The water and electricity bills are to be kept for 2 years.
  • Car purchase invoices are to be kept for 2 years.
  • The contracts relating to property insurance are to be kept for 2 years.
  • Carrier invoices are to be kept for one year
  • Chimney sweep certificates must be kept for one year

 

  • The title deed and the co-ownership regulations must be retained as long as one is the owner.
  • The rental commitment, correspondence with the lessor, the insurance contract, surety bond is to be kept as long as one is a tenant.
  • Rental leases are to be kept throughout the rental period and then for 5 years after leaving the accommodation.
  • The inventory must be kept until the deposit is refunded .
  • Invoices for valuables should be kept for as long as you have them.
